A SMALLER SOCOM 7.62
The SureFire SOCOM762-MINI2 is the most recent addition to the SOCOM line. Engineered specifically to suppress 7.62x39 and 7.62x35 (300 Blackout)caliber platforms, it is also capable of suppressing standard 7.62x51 NATO (.308Win) rifles with barrels 16" or longer. The Mini2 is just over 6" in length and 2.2 inches shorter and 2.5oz lighter than the full-size SOCOM762-RC2 but built to the same exacting standards. Constructed of advanced high-temperature alloys and stainless steel, it includes advanced internal venting to reduce back pressure, reducing the suppressed cyclic rate and gas blowback on the operator. The new design also includes an integrated blast shield in the back section, increasing durability.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
Many shooters enjoy the drastically low backpressure of the RC2 and the flash suppression. Its heavy military use and track record are proven, but quite a few people enjoy more compact silencers. For getting in and out of vehicles or using the rifle in a confined space, the full-size RC2 can be a bit long. The MINI2 is ideal for short-barreled rifles when overall size matters. It still boasts the same strengths as the full-size RC2; it just trades size reduction for a slightly louder report at the muzzle. For someone who loves the RC2 but wants something smaller, the MINI2 is an excellent choice.
